Foundation Day

Come and join us for Foundation Day 2026. March 6, 1788 saw the arrival of the first convict settlers on Norfolk Island, led by Lieutenant Philip Gidley King. They came just six weeks after the First Fleet reached Sydney. The purpose was to prevent other colonial powers from claiming the island. They also hoped to utilize its resources, particularly the tall Norfolk pines and flax plants. To mark the occasion, we’ve packaged some tours to give you an insight into the history.
